Bloomberg BNA’s World Data Protection Report has published Gabriela Kennedy’s article on Hong Kong’s new e-health record sharing system. The territory’s Electronic Health Record Sharing System Ordinance (EHRSSO), which came on stream on 2 December 2015 aims to provide better and more efficient services through access to integrated medical data of both public and private health-carers. This easy access and use of data has to be balanced against the need to safeguard the privacy and security of such sensitive data. The author expects the eHR and Privacy Commissioners to issue further codes and guidelines on the exact security measures to be adopted.
